Wow, Has It Been a Long Week, Or What?

Okay, so it's been, like, eight days since my last update, but before you massacre me with fairly pointless complaints let me explain. I have been at Youth Conference for the past three days, and therefore have been behind in many things. One of them being, sadly, my writing. Only two thousand words last week! *sheds tear for lost words* Hopefully, this week will wield much higher results. Though, Youth Conference was a total and complete blast and I really wish I were doing it again this weekend.We went to Flaming Gorge and river rafted down the Green River. Granted we almost lost one of our leaders, but still, really glad I didn't stay home.

So, my book is going well. You, know, I initially got the idea for the Destined Trilogy in November of last year, and it is literally impossible for me to tell you how many makeovers and changes I have had to make in order for the story to work. I've been plotting it out since then, but I realized, come the beginning of summer vacation, that I wasn't going to get anywhere with it unless I actually wrote the book. Which, to be honest seems like a no-brainer, but in all honesty it's the hardest thing I've ever had to do, because I have to let myself be horrible at writing. Plus, add the fact that I'm slow at writing and you've got yourself a recipe for discouragement. "Will I ever be able to finish it?" "What if it's so horrible no one can stand to look at it?" "Maybe I should just give up!" A myriad of thoughts and questions relentlessly run through my brain, and, try as I might to suppress them, they always seem to find a way to surface. But after reading advice from other authors' blogs I have realized that I just need to truck through it, and fix later. You can't make anything better if there isn't even a story to work with!

Prologue

            His cold, unsentimental eyes were filled with contempt towards me, but all I could do was stare. Is that really him? I wondered.  It can’t be . . . no.  My mind said one thing; my heart another, and it made it ache with each warm beat that should have belonged to the both of us.  I searched him for a scrap of what used to be, but there was nothing there.  My love for him lived on, even though his seemed to have died. 

            I was too shocked to cry.  

            He smiled maliciously at me before he lunged, and the adrenaline kicked in a beat too late.  Suddenly I could feel strong cold hands press down on me and in that moment I knew only one thing for certain.

            He was going to kill me.

So, what do you think? No, really, I want your opinion! That's right, I'm talking to you, smart one!

Thirdly, I am currently in the middle of re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, one of my all-time FAVORITE books. Can't wait to see the movie (I know, I know, I'm slow.)

Next order of business. I have decided that I am going to do a weekly book plug, where I take the book I am currently reading that week (you don't need one to do one for Harry Potter, do you? 'Cause I'm pretty sure that one speaks for itself) and promote it to the readers of my blog. Seriously, people, READ IT! Really original, and suspenseful. Bree Despain will not let you go until the very end. I give it a complete and totally honest Five Stars and Two Thumbs Up! This is a trilogy, so as soon as I'm done with Harry Potter, I will run down to the library and pick up book two!
